Oddball scenarios for Warhammer 40,000 Rogue Trader.

Some Rogue Trader scenarios broke the mold. Here are some in brief.

Greasy Kim's Bar and Diner

Rogue Trader is a flexible game system.

Page 235 of the rulebook described how to handle more than two players and included a scenario for an eight player bar brawl with bystanders controlled by the GM.

This style of scenario tends to be a lot of fun and is over quick enough that it overcomes inherent limitations.

Vulture Warriors from Dimension X Meet Plenty of Cheerful Orks with Plasma Cannon

VWDXMPCOPC was a 40K/Paranoia cross-over scenario written by Ken Rolston (of Morrowind fame) and published in White Dwarf 112. This battle pitted a small force of Orks against Loyal Servants of Friend Computer. Citadel produced miniatures for Paranoia in the mid 1980s.

Ork Base

The scenario was set in an Ork base with rooms represented by upturned box lids. To keep the base layout secret the GM had to keep players separate and place rooms down as models moved into them before joining the boards when the opposing forces met.

Too complicated for my liking. I suspect miniatures would fall over when the boxes are moved, which would irritate me no end.

Sunstroke

GDW's magazine Challenge 36 included a 40K scenario by Roger Hamlin called Sunstroke. The Little Sisters of Purification (Space Marines) aid a pair of tech-priests against Vampire-led Jokaero who seek to convert a Slann installation into a space-ship.

This scenario requires a 6'x4' playing area and a significant amount of modelling effort. I have not studied the ~3 pages of special rules in detail.
