Get Fighting!
Advanced mission selection for Warhammer 40,000 3rd edition.
Get Fighting! is a software implementation of rules published in Chapter Approved 2001.
Rolling for Scenarios (3rd Edition Rulebook)
The 3rd edition rulebook has 4 scenarios and 7 organisation charts with different force slot minimums and maximums.
-
Standard
-
Battle (Attacker & Defender)
-
Raid (Attacker & Defender)
-
Breakthrough (Attacker & Defender)
This creates cool, thematic battles but introduces friction to starting a game. If you randomly generate the scenario, you need to do that before picking an army. It also assumes you own enough units to fill compulsory slots in the org charts. If you stick to the five standard missions you miss out playing the other ten.
Advanced Mission Selection (Chapter Approved 2001)
Jervis Johnson's revised rules offer a streamlined process that can incorporate missions published after the rulebook. Under the revised process you pick your army first.
-
Always use the Standard Force Organisation chart
-
Roll

Roll for deciding attacker using Strategy Ratings (Dark Eldar are always attacker)

If a Special Mission is rolled Strategy Ratings are added to D6 rolls and the winner can pick the mission from any official publication.
For example, if your were the attacker in a Raid and your army included three Heavy Support units, two would have to be reassigned as the attacker's chart only allows one such unit to be included in the army. The attacker would be allowed to pick which of his Heavy Support units were reassigned.
